** Please note that you will still be able to withdraw wages or benefits via branch with valid ID during this time. **
I have been a client for 50 years with several thousand pounds in my account. I find it unacceptable that they would block my account for a report from a third party for a trifling £8. It is really inconvenient to travel quite a distance to visit a branch to withdraw cash. I am unable to use my Debit Card and it is unclear whether they will continue to pay DD and SO?We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.

On 08th February, I sold an item on market place for £5. Buyer asked me to post. I agreed for additional £3 p+p. He transferred £8 to my account.
He had misread the advert and I refunded his £8.
I have confirmation of payments in and out of my account. Which I sent to him.
He then claimed he did not receive refund and sent me abusive / threatening messages.
Today I receive notification from Nat West that my account has been blocked.
They referenced his £8 payment and asked for a response to a long list of questions within 3 days.
I telephoned NW, but they refused to discuss.
I have answered all their questions and attached details of the transactions.
I received this automated response>
I shall stop using marketplace. Perhaps it is time to switch my NW account.

Probably better to ask in the banking board as its more about the transaction being reported as fraud and not about what happened on marketplace.0

I was thinking that. The obvious scenario is that buyer has made a claim for fraud which makes little sense in this scenario, OP did you refund the original payment using the refund option? If so the payment was effectively cancelled and it seems odd that any claim against a cancelled payment can be made.jon81uk said:Probably better to ask in the banking board as its more about the transaction being reported as fraud and not about what happened on marketplace.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Payment was to my Bank Account. There is no refund option. This is something you need to be persistent with at your bank, this is a ridiculous situation and bank should be assisting you to sort it out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I thought my bank would defend MY interests, not freeze several thousand pounds in my account to cover a trifling sum of £8. Now, this buyer giving abuse to Marketplace admin. They told me, he is reporting them to the Policesoolin said:

In any dispute, I have found eBay nearly always sides with the buyer. Paypal account gets frozen and after "review" the buyer gets a refund from your funds.
I thought BACS was buyer beware and no refunds. Seems I was wrong :-("A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Very interested in reading this. I have a small item available on marketplace and was contacted yesterday about would I post it. I said I'd check the postage and get back to them. Immediately they offered me a fiver extra, which is way more than postage would cost and twice asked for my bank account details. I asked if they had paypal but they said they'd put it into my bank account. I sent them a request for money through paypal and that has been ignored so far. I wondered if they were trying to scam for my bank details, but now I'm wondering if there's something more like your problem going on.I think I may withdraw the request and refund any money if it does come through as being too much aggro.Make £2025 in 2025

They can't do anything with your bank details just set up a charitable donation which you would be asked to confirm anyway under the DD guarantee, so don't worry about that.
The scam will be you will get a fake email from your bank saying funds have been received and will be released to you as soon as you upload proof of posting, and of course there is no money.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
