In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. • Enjoy your new place when you move in; excellent result and put the stress behind you.
  • So today we reached an agreement and have put the saga to bed. We were promised the fireplace and electrics will be moved in time for completion (the other sockets are remaining to save some work so we will benefit from a few extra outlets, hidden bonus) plus they offered a relatively small good will gesture. We chanced our luck emphasising our points and we have now received significantly more off our upgrades, allowing us to buy the sofa we wanted to for the new layout.

A pretty fair result we feel.

Thanks for all the advice and constructive comments everyone :)
Just beware of those extra sockets being a bodge. They might be tempted you do spurs or have wires taking odd routes.
