Hi I am looking for some advice on EPG payments and how they are paid.
We noticed the nov Dec and Jan bill was very high .and when we check the bills we found out this.our tariff on our electric account reads 34.39 pkwh and 57.11 pd

But when we then looked at the two bills the tariffs were much higher than above.
 was 49.25 and 48.58
Dec was 49.90 and 54.39
And Jan 64.59 and 54.39

We have been in contact with our electric company.who have said that the 3 bills are correct what they have done.

Then there say that the higher tariffs are because of the EPG payments made.

So what the company are saying that there have put up the tariff with saying that they are doing this.

Because once the EPG payments are made the bill will be the same amount without putting the tariff up.

So what is the point in getting the EPG payments if the bill is not being reduced.

Also I have noticed that the £66 payments are not showing up on the bills.

Can someone please help me with this matter and advice me if company are doing this correct or incorrect.because they are not helping me.

They have not put up their tariff, they are charging the price cap tariff, then applying the EPG as a discount in a different part of the bill.

The bill is being reduced, to the 34.39p per kWh rate, without the EPG it would be the higher rates which are shown pre-discount.

The £66 is the EBSS (Energy Bills Support Scheme) not the EPG. How it shows on the bills depending on the different suppliers, some refund directly to the bank account, some credit the account and refund, but it generally does not show as a credit on the bills.

From the limited information you have given it looks like everything is correct.

You are not getting a discount on the 34.39p. The 34p is what you are paying AFTER the discount that is paid by the government.

The 49.9p was the Ofgem cap for the 4th quarter. The EPG reduced this by 15.51p to the 34.39p.

The cap increased in January to 64.59 and EPG reduced it still to 34.39p by the government paying the difference of 30.2p.

Jumping on this. We are at a loss about the epg credit showing also.  Rough figures for 3 months Nov 22-feb 23.
3 months paid at 172.95 = 518.85. With the epg Credit for 3 months should be 718.85. Bill was 726.  Should be about evens.  Theyre saying we owe 426.
Granted 200 has been credited to the bank account. They are saying payment credit on the account is only 317.85.
It looks like they have indeed gave us 200 back. But it is actually our own money. And they have reduced the payments made as showing this.  We work out the bill should be 226 at the very most (with having 200 of our own money returned).
We can see nowhere that an adjustment has been made for the government payment...

Without seeing the bill, or even knowing which supplier you refer to, are you sure the £200 wasnt the EBSS? £67 + £67 + £66. If it was paid out to you, it won't also appear as a credit.

You are not saying who your supplier is but many work the way that they are deduction the £67 from your use, often without showing it in detail.

So if you have a usage of £200 they will only bill you £133, while they are sending you back the £67.

So you have received your own money back, and the £67 from the government has reduced your bill for the month. In your example that would mean that your bill was not £726, but £926.

Easiest way to check this if you look at the subtotals for electricity and gas, are they higher than the total?

Its BG. Problem is none of their online statements show anything step by step any more!
As above .... Usage billed for was with VAT 739.40 for 3 months. We have checked the kwh and this seems correct to what has been used.
    We paid 3 DD of 172. x 3 months = 518.85.
With the 200 EBSS we should have credit totalling roughly 718 against the account.
They said we've paid 315 (3 x DD show about 105 paid pm.  Sorry I don't have the bill in front of me right now).
They have credited 200 back to the bank.
New Balance showing as us owing 426.63.
It looks like to me, they have given us 200 back to the bank but not added the EBSS as credit on the account at the same time.
We believe it should show debt of roughly 226 not 426 going off the figures.
