Hi everyone,
Scarlet, Cambridge is lovely, Steve's a dab hand at punting after all these years and the guided tours are very good. I used to work in the Churchill Archives at the College which was an experience, I met a great many interesting people - Churchill's daughter, Prince Philip, three of the Thatchers and a lot of "ordinary" people who'd done or experienced extraordinary things, including a woman who's father had been ambassador to Germany in the thirties who had met and been kissed by Hitler as a child.
I want to carry on sorting my kitchen out (after watching Sort your life out). I have done 3 cupboards and discarded things I have never used or only used very infrequently. I've also labelled the shelves a la Dilly so that people can't say, I left it out because I don't know where it goes. There's really only one small cupboard with baking equipment in to go plus a cupboard which is a bit of a dumping ground. I sorted the food cupboards a while ago so they aren't too bad.
I might do cottage pie for dinner, last night we had chicken banh mi rolls, delicious and an easy meal, we've also got enough left for us all to have it for lunch.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning from a frosty mehefinland
Quite a surprise to see a heavy frost this morning. It certainly wasn't in the BBof C 's weather forecast.
Beggared up plans for a mega bonfire up the field as lots of it is frosted . Mostly brambles that have been cleared and some mouldy haylage. We had a shortage of wood shavings for bedding before Xmas so we changed to flax. Its lovely stuff but it gets everywhere . It is very fine and soft, plus extremely absorbent and our bedding usage has reduced considerably so I think we will stick with it. Its a comparable price too
Just vacuumed the house and the stuff has crept onto the mats etc. Carries in on our feet however much you think you have cleaned the footwear. Just pondering vacuuming and how so many people 'hoover'. Don't hear them 'sharking' or 'dyson-ing'. As for 'vaxxing', that conjures up all sorts of images
Just off for second stint at field; de-ice the water tanks and fill haynets (ok haylage nets) so will leave you lot with the usual hugs and spoons.

Morning. I woke up thinking about excercise which is very unlike me, but I am itching to tidy up the grass verge outside [ ok Coxy, you may have a point
] , it's looking very shabby.I think probably because I want to do the garden stuff now and go through my seeds and imagine that one day, everything I sow or plant will come good and I will waft in the garden in dried muddy boots, flowery dress, secateurs and a hat...Actually, compost comes first though,,,Had a room shufty round yesterday, only moving the cats tower, they were back on it in a shot, so they either like a change or they didn't like it where it was. There is still clothes sorting to do but putting back, and splitting into bags for friends [would you believe I have no bags? well, none I'm willing to say goodbye to anyway] and for sale. There's some motorbike gear in there that can be sold. So a bit of a choppy doing this and that day until next week when it'll be garage time.
Ruby, sorry to hear about your client, poor thing...maybe he'd had enough of his mum nicking his money....snoozer, that job sounds cool. And so do the sandwiches [ I had to google] Gers, happy family reunion! TA, well, you kind of still do when the GC's come round, don't worry about the freezer, they'll eat itScarlet, it's as good as any other reason for joining and better than most. Who doesn't prefer a quiz to golf? Izzy, yep, perks is perks, it's got to be done...Rosy, bloody men...
Take care today, be well, at least it's not raining...

End of a busy work week - phew!
Dog 2 is in the groomers as he resembles a small bear - he was not happy when I left but the groomer adores me and knows to ignore his constant muttering and moaning. Took dog 1 to a local field and she had a wonderful time!

taff, I once talked to a lovely old gentleman when JFK was killed. Harold Wilson went across for the funeral and the ambassador saw that in the schedule there was no provision for "comfort" breaks so he offered his top hat to Wilson in case of emergency.
I also met the woman who was Ian Fleming's inspiration for Moneypenny. On another occasion I had to be Margaret Thatcher's proxy in a meeting.
We had some very grand dinners in the College and the Christmas dos were very special, Steve used to disgrace me by minesweeping the decanters of port that were circulating.9 -
Just realised my forst sentence makes no sense, I'm sure I'd typed that he was Ambassador to the US when JFK was killed.3
