Jet2 changing holiday date is expensive!

Has anyone else experienced changing the date of their jet2 holiday and it goes from approximately 5k to 10k? I was changing from oct to July so knew it would be more expensive.

The issue is that when looking at new holidays online (exactly the same holiday) they were about 7k but to change my holiday it was 5k.

Original holiday was 4700. 300 pounds to change for admin then 4500 to change the date. If I booked a new holiday only 7k!

Why why why?

The website pricing will be based on attracting new customers, whereas once you're already booked they know that they can get away with pricing a change to equate to a higher total, as you're unlikely to walk away unless it's cheaper to cancel and rebook rather than changing an existing booking....

the t&cs mention some things that may contribute to the increase ....
Any booking discount you may have received at the time the original booking was made may be altered or reduced whenever changes are made
Certain travel arrangements (e.g. in-flight meals, non-refundable hotel rooms etc.) may not be changed after a reservation has been made and any alteration request could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements

Do Jet2holidays still offer the "cancel and rebook" option with a voucher valid for 6 months? There's no mention on their website now so wondered if they had dropped it.

If it's not on the website I would assume it is no longer offered.  It was introduced during the Covid crisis in order to help people who were caught up in it.

I last used it "for real" back in April 2022. I thought I'd seen it when I tried a test in February this year for a booked holiday.
We need someone who is booked for a June Jet2holidays trip to test it now lol!

Well the flights are probably non refundable so that part would be lost and need to be paid again. Then you've a change in date to a much more expensive time. Then admin fees.

Changing travel after you book is never a very financially rewarding experience I'm afraid.

If it's a flight only with Jet2 you can amend the date (but not departure airport or destination) for £35.
