Hi there
i posted here about a month ago with an issue I have with a builder.
i posted here about a month ago with an issue I have with a builder.
I’ve been advised by the police to report him to trading standards. I’ve done this through CAB who have emailed with a misunderstanding of the issue and have passed my info on to trading standards.
Issue is, there’s no guarantee they will come back to me.
Is there another way?
Thanks

They'll only come back to you if they need more information - they don't investigate complaints for you as such, and will only use the information supplied if they deem that enforcement action is needed, but that's not on your behalf.pineappletree23 said:Issue is, there’s no guarantee they will come back to me.

What happens after you've reported to Trading Standards
Trading Standards will use the information you give to decide if they’ll investigate. They’ll only contact you if they need more information.
Even if Trading Standards don't contact you, they might use your evidence to take action against the business in the future. For example, if other people make complaints about the same business.

Did you ask him for his VAT number?0

Did ask for vat no and he said he would send and never did.Was perhaps incorrectly told to ring the police when I got some legal advice.0

Did you literally get proper legal advice, or did you just ask Citizens Advice? What did the provider of the advice suggest that the police could do, in a civil matter?pineappletree23 said:Was perhaps incorrectly told to ring the police when I got some legal advice.0
