Eon smart gas meter not sending readings
Since June last year my eon smart gas meter has not sent any readings to them. They have finally told me, after numerous emails and now a complaint that this is a problem with firmware and that there is no solution at present. When I pointed out that this must be affecting thousands of customers they agreed that it was. So i wonder if a straw poll of affected customers might be possible on this site?

You need to state the meter manufacturer and model. E.On like all suppliers uses smart meters that are certified by individual meter manufacturers for use on the DCC Network. You would be surprised how many different models of smart meter are used on the network.
Meter manufacturers are responsible for building and certifying quarterly firmware updates that suppliers then push out to their meters. Presumably, your gas meter is still recording usage and you can provide the supplier with manual readings?
My Kaifa electricity meter went dumb for 7 months in 2021 as a result of a firmware issue. It took Kaifa 3 firmware updates to resolve the problem. There is little that the supplier can do other than put pressure on the meter manufacturer.FWiW, in my opinion, it was a mistake to allow suppliers to choose meter manufacturers and models. The French Linky system, for example, has one meter design and a small number of approved manufacturers.0 -
What would a poll of an unknown user base help you? What are you trying to proof?

Is your eon gas meter sending them readings?
It may help as we may be better aware of how many are being impacted/etc.
At times its oly when the press pick up on things they get resolved.
When I was getting calls for smart meters and they way they made it sound ie that its mandatory, I thought i was just unlucky but reading threads on this site, others have had similar experiences
I complained about that and they eventually promised not to trouble me again and look at staff training
