cleaning up after painting.....

Just a quick question as I'm attempting a big clean up after re-doing our kitchen...
I've got quite a few cloths, teatowels and old sheets, some which now have paint on (not wall paint, we painted kitchen units)
is it possible to save these?? Or do you just chuck them in the machine and keep them as old cloths with paint on?? One cloth is thickly covered with paint.
Also a few cloths that are soaked with furniture oil and now gone stiff.
Was wondering if it might be bad for the washing machine to put stuff like this in??
Thanks!
