How many folk here for 'delivered' and photographed parcels by RM but INR from buyer

Just looking to see how many folk are in tricky positions like me where you send a parcel with the Tracked service, postie takes a pic, leaves it somewhere and soon enough buyer opens an INR and likely genuine case.

I'm finding this becoming more and more common. Most buyers have been honest and given feedback where the pic shows dumped in a fusebox, by a bin outside (great for thieves or if it's raining) or just a pic of the box up close so you can't make out where it was even put.

Used to be the postie would take it back if recipient not home and re-deliver and a card put thru the door. Now it's like yodel/evri and just dump it somewhere/anywhere and deem it 'delivered'.

What then? Will RM pay out when you put a claim in? I have a couple to do for this scenario so good to know if folk got anywhere with this? TIA and rant over.

I haven’t had any of my RM parcels left at my address I always get a red card other saying which neighbour it is with or to collect from mail centre , and I’ve never had a RM parcel for a buyer left with a photograph, I’ve never seen any postie photograph anything, could it be just in some areas?

I’ve had plenty of things dumped by couriers though.

A few weeks ago I went out ant 5 pm.,

I returned at 9pm to find a parcel left on my doorstep. The front of my house is in open view of the road , so the parcel was quite visible.
Fortunately, it was still there .

The postie put it inside my front door as it was heavy and then took a photograph  as I stood beside it. .

All Tracked 48/28 should have a photo taken, if you check the RM track and trace for any you've sent or received you should the photos on there.

Your postie may do what ours does and just take a photo of the parcel resting on the steering wheel before getting out the van!

OP you'd be surprised how many of these claims aren't genuine, best thing to do with eBay is ask the buyer to open an INR, get it closed in your favour and tell them to appeal to eBay, if it is a one off for the buyer then eBay might cover a refund to the buyer.

Yes RM are becoming like the other couriers, sadly it's costing them what makes them great but instead of all couriers being regulated and having to confirm to a certain level of service RM are having to lower themselves to the lowest common denominator to compete.

Had a doozy last week for a RM Tracked parcel.
Card through the door saying it's going back to DO.
Tracking stated delivered to neighbour, with a photo taken of a small area of path and posties leg.

Neighbour fortunately came round with it and said postie tried her, she was working and couldn't answer but did go outside as soon as she could.

You're spot on in final para. Worrying and sad as just this past 6 months or so I've really seen a decline and having to do put in more claims than usual.

Re if INR is opened, will ebay likely see in my favour since item in question was 'delivered'? The cases I mentioned do have photographs from the postie but one is just the box (nothing in background such as door/by bin etc), other two could be anywhere, tho I'm unsure if eBay would check any photographic evidence if they asked - they don't appear to check anything with any common sense.

I had one last week.  The photo showed the box on my doorstep.   Despite the fact that postie actually handed it me...   I guess she took the photo first and then knocked.  Not sure what would have happened if I'd not answered.
I need to think of something new here...

I have had quite a few like this from the Royal Mail. With tracked 48 they have taken photos and then left the item in the communal area of the building. I have been lucky on three occasions with neighbours telling me about parcels that I have then gone out to collect. Two of them were around £70 worth.

This is one of the reasons I am against RM competing on price with services like Evri. As I have said before on these forums it will be a race to the bottom. I imagine RM would have to pay out. It is their own delivery people taking photos of items that they haven't delivered.
