County Court Claim Form

My daughter gas received a claim form from the county court business centre and does not wish to fight the case. However, the claimants costs on the form (copy attacched) do not seem to tally.
Could anyone please explain why the claim of £480 is suddenly £695.44?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Wasn't your daughter suitably impressed when you won your case in Feb 2020?
Not too sure you will get much guidance on how to give £835.44 to UKPC.0 -
Hi Keith
I can honestly say that we are chalk & cheese when it comes to such matters and in this case, she openly admits to having parked where she should not have.
Our only query here is the differing amounts yhay I am unable to offer ber any advice on0 -
The difference is the extortionate interest that no Judge would grant. The sum of money is extortionate and it is NOT to be paid!
But this will be won and she'll likely pay nothing. There is also no risk of a CCJ as long as the Claim is dated recently and she just defends with our help.
What's the date of issue (top right)?
It cannot be worth paying that sum of money just to avoid the simple enough tasks of using our Template Defence and then filling in a but more paperwork until they give up. No hearing is likely. Also, paying it would be giving in to a scam.IMHO no-one should be doing that. A terrible example to set and absolutely the wrong thing to do in life. If it's just because she's scared, please tell her how easy this is and that she'll pay nothing and get no CCJ.
No partial admission.
No paying.

My case did go to a hearing which was a most unpleasant experience (apart from the outcome) and she is extremely scared of having to go through the same.
The date of issue is 31st January0 -
But was your case UKPC and DCBLegal?!
Even if it looks like going to a hearing she will get an offer (later on) to pay less. Just before they discontinue. Don't blink...she pays nothing.
If I'm wrong, and they do not discontinue (as they almost always do) she makes an offer the day before the hearing and never has to go through anything.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You need to teach your daughter how to get a bit of a backbone and use this as a life experience that will stand her in good stead for the future. Your example from back in 2019/2020 should be a good example of how relatively easy it is to defeat these scammers.
By giving in and funding these scavenging scummers, she will only be adding to the misery of thousands of other gullible victims. It will not stop her from possibly getting more PCNs, whether from the scammers at her university or elsewhere in future.
It makes my blood boil when I read of victims just giving up and funding these bar stewards who prey on their gullibility and spineless attitude. It never ends there and your daughter will, at some stage in the future, be back to you begging for more advice on how to get yet another of the scavengers off her back as they will have listed her as a valuable cash cow for future reference.
Can you at least persuade her to let you do the bulk of the work in her name. She would only ever be required to show her face if it ever went to a court hearing which is not guaranteed. Please do not let your daughter fund these disgusting scammers for want of a sheltered existence whilst at university. How else will she ever learn to stand on her own feet in the real world once she leaves the closeted environment of higher education?5 -
jmfc said:The date of issue is 31st JanuaryWith a Claim Issue Date of 31st January, your daughter has until Monday 20th February to file an Acknowledgment of Service but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an Acknowledgment of Service, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an Acknowledgment of Service in a timely manner, she has until 4pm on Monday 6th March 2023 to file her Defence. That's nearly four weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where the Acknowledgment of Service guidance was found.Don't miss the deadline for filing an Acknowledgment of Service, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an Acknowledgment of Service has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.2 -

It is not just a choice between 'pay up' or 'go to a hearing'. Loads of time in between and every chance of a discontinuance.
No-one is saying any Defendant has to attend a hearing in the end. Highly unlikely and like I say, she makes an offer if I'm wrong about discontinuance and she wants to end it later.
We don't want people to make offers (because we are confident and we win 99% of cases) but even worse is just paying in full when a claim arrives.
The very worst move. Giving in to the scam. No Judge would allow that interest (at all) and most would also disallow all the added fake 'damages'.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks all.
I will try & help her defend as best I can although the car park is clearly marked & signed so I'm not sure what the defence might be0 -
It's only DCB Legal... have a look at this thread to see the likely outcome:
