If however he scraped the car on the wall or the wheelbarrow then he's going to need to hope he has DOV cover. From above it looks like we haven't been given all the facts.DullGreyGuy said:
Your friend would have the option of claiming off their motor insurance who would counterclaim from you or claiming from you directly.Mistermeaner said:say for example i was pushing a wheel barrow full of stuff and it collided with their car that was parked in the drive, causing damage to their car
Your motor insurance wouldnt respond at all as it wasnt an accident involving your vehicle.
Your Home Contents insurance could possibly respond but it would depend on the definitions in the T&Cs of the third party liability section.0 -
So a slight mishap but no more information - all the posts are speculations.1 - Was the OP driving the vehicle to move it? Did he/she have permission - Did they have a drivimg licence. Did the vehicle insurance cover them to drive it?2 - What exactly were they doing? Helping out a mate or carrying out **Paid** work - Painting/Gardening/Window Cleaning and such and If it was paid work then do they not have insurance?Without the above information then it is impossible to gice a proper answer. If the owner of the vehicle scraped the gatepost then it would be a straight forward claim against the car insurance including damage to the gatepost. As usual so much we do not know.0
