Can they charge if it wasn’t included in the quote?

My Mum recently hired a venue for my step-Dad’s celebration of life. We were quoted for the room and food etc. However, when we received the invoice they had added an extra £50 for tablecloths! At no point had they mentioned this whilst we were booking, either verbally and on the written quote. Can they charge for this retrospectively? Many thanks

That doesn't sound right to me. The quote should cover everything required for the event. Is there anything in the quote about extras or sundries etc?

Have you queried it with the venue?

A phone call may resolve it quickly.

Have you paid the invoice? If not, and you are sure of your ground, then deduct that £50 when paying and inform them why.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

If the company added anything which is not on the quote without agreement before it was added, don't pay it.

So at any point was there a request that the table were dressed with table cloths or were you expecting bare tables?

Presumably this is the invoice post the event? Is it possibly a charge for excessive soiling/damage to them?

Usually a venue will have a base price then supplementary prices for optional add-ons.

What does the hire agreement say about such pricing?
Who arranged to put the tablecloths out?
