Non-fault motor insurance claim - getting nowhere

Zurich's authorised repairer have collected my car today.
If they believe my car is uneconomical to repair (it's old; 04 reg), can they write it off even though I'm not claiming on my own policy?
As far as I can see, no new parts should be needed; the bumper is not seriously damaged. At most, the front wing needs a bit of paint.0 -
Naturally, their liability for the vehicle is capped at its market value immediately before the accident. If the repairs are more than this or risk being more than this when considering salvage value then they can write it off.phs12 said:If they believe my car is uneconomical to repair (it's old; 04 reg), can they write it off even though I'm not claiming on my own policy?

Insurers, and their garages, work on the basis of an A1 repair with full blending to all panels. The fact the car is old doesn't allow them to lower their standards even though you may be happy with a non-perfect repair. This can be why its better to get your own quote if you are happy with secondhand parts etc rather than go with the network repairer.0
