Looking for savings account that I can access easily via app (plus more)

I want to transfer some savings from a bank that is not a member of the Lending Standards Board to one that is (I gather this would give me better protection in the event of a scam). My needs are quite simple:

  • I need to be able to easily view the account balance and be able to transfer money to it on ad-hoc basis from another banking app
  • I want the new org to have LSB membership and (I guess this is a given) FSCS cover

Obviously, a higher interest rate is better, but it's not most important factor to me.

What banks would allow me to view the account online via an app, without first having a current account?

Recommendations for suitable bank/bsociety/app would be appreciated.

Many thanks

NS&I have an app that is largely useless. You need to use their online banking to manage your accounts.

There are dozens of savings accounts which don’t require a current account. There is a good list of savings accounts with apps https://moneyfacts.co.uk/savings-accounts/easy-access-savings-accounts/. You can search for accounts which can be opened/operated by app. Whether they are LSB members, you can work out for yourself from the LSB membership though most with good rates and apps aren’t part of that club
