I have had a letter from hmrc to say I have a refund for over paid tax they have sent a cheque to nationwide ppi I have tried to contact them but its just a message you can't speak to anyone as anyone else had a problem with them

That name has popped up a number of times on this website in much the same scenario as yours.   They say they have changed Tel number on their website:

In future, be a little bit more careful.     The saying is once bitten, twice shy.  However, you were missold PPI and then went on to use a claims company for something that was easily done for free and now have a bit more out of you for another thing that is easily done for free.
