Smartcare Rewards - Whirlpool - Product Faulty after a year

Hi I was wondering whether anyone has been in a similar situation as me?
I bought an oven using my Smartcare rewards. I purchased the item online with them and had the item delivered to me. It's just been over a year and the oven has just stopped working. I didn't take out the insurance because I had a bad experience in the past where the engineer just plastered over the issue and it wasn't fixed at all. Now I'm left with a broken down oven and they want £137 to fix it. I feel like they are pushing you to get the insurance, the price is so high. I have been trying to exercise my consumer rights that an item should last a considerable amount of time and just over a year is not long enough. I've contacted Smart care rewards who have passed me to whirlpool, to indicit. To just about anyone. In order to exercise the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you need to raise it with the retailer. But no one is taking liability for the issue.
Has anyone had a similar issue and what was done to fix it please?

You need to make it clear to the retailer that you are claiming under CRA 2015 and not under the now expired warranty. Retailers will always try to fob you off onto the manufacturer.
After 6m, it's up to you to prove a pre-existing fault, so you'll need to supply an independent engineer's report to support your claim. No free lunch, and no free laptop2 -
Can't see much about the SmartCare Rewards scheme, but presume its some points based thing. If the oven was "purchased" with points, does that mean the OP has consumer rights, or was it essentially a gift?1
