O2 PAYG call time credit issue

I am severely disabled and profoundly deaf. I hardly ever use my mobile phone for voice calls as I can’t hear what’s going on.
Yesterday, I realised that my call time balance had fallen to zero whereas it should’ve been nearly £20. After examining the call records, I noticed that I had received a phone call from Sri Lanka several weeks ago (which obviously I didn’t answer) then a few days later there were 2 outgoing calls to the same number. I never made any of these calls and I never answered the phone.
To tell the truth, I’m not sure if this is a technical issue or something else. Is it possible that there is some incredibly devious method by which foreign fraudsters get money off my phone? If so, this cannot be the first time this has happened anywhere.
Thanks for reading

Is it a smartphone - if so you may have a rogue app that is dialling out.1

There used to be a scam where you got a call from abroad that only rang once. The scam worked because some people would return the call without checking, and it was to a super premium rate number that charged a huge connection fee and massive charges per second.Your phone seems to have redialed the last number to call it, which is odd, as km1500 said, there may be malware/a dodgy app that has done this, but Apple are usually very good at preventing this., and the iphone8 is still supported (but not for long)I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

than thanks for your reply
I updated the iPhone yesterday, just in case. However I cannot see any app that would do the redial of the foreign number so I’m baffled.0 -
I’ve since concluded that if I get any call from a foreign number I need to delete this from my Call History ASAP, which I assume would prevent the re-dial issue, hopefully.0

When people complain about this they are often told they called it themselves by leaning on the 'phone, and when they point out the impossibility of that the next suggestion is a faulty touchscreen registering phantom presses.I believe that if you are on a monthly contract O2 can bar dialling international calls, I can't see why they can't on PAYG, have a look at the website and try the live chat.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
