    Yes.

I assume that your caring duties don't contradict the reasons for which you were awarded PIP, and the other person is claiming a disability benefit at the requisite level.

However, I would strongly advise that you both have a benefits check to confirm that a CA claim is financially sensible (and does not remove any SDP the other person may be claiming).

Note that if you are in receipt of UC then (net) you only get the c.£169 monthly carers element (you don't benefit from the c£70pw CA amount).
Note too, that you cannot get both the LCWRA element and the UC carers element.

You may wish to give us further details.

Yes if you care for them for 35 hours a week and it doesn't contradict the reasons you are claiming PIP for yourself.
  • That’s a whole can of worms I would not like to open.
Not worth it for £70 extra.

I claim carers allowance for looking after my daughter and claim PIP myself. My caring duties are not physical. My daughter is able bodied but needs lots of support through everything else in daily life. Claiming both has never opened any can of worms for me.

Thank you all. For clarity, both my children have DLA and I care for them. My caring duties won't clash with my disability as their needs are not physical. PIP will certainly help with my therapy, supplements, etc. I don't know if I will qualify yet but I wasn't going to bother if I could no longer claim CA as it would just cancel each other out. We get CTC so I do not have to look for work whilst caring. I have had to give up my career to look after my children and there is no way I could hold down a job and care for them.

    Some information on PIP:

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/pip/

    https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-self-test

You may want to see if your local advice charity can help with completing the forms.

"Reliability" and "majority of the time" are important in PIP decisions. See:

    (Pages 71-86).

Btw,  anyone can post on these public forums, so it's important to distinguish between those posters who have useful personal and practical experience, and other less helpful 'contributions'.
