Hi - i wonder can anyone help or advice me
I've been a member of EBAY for many years but haven't used it since 2019. I logged on yesterday as i decided to start selling some items on Ebay.  I put up a pair of  "sandals / and 3 ladies tops.  Within  10 minutes I received an email saying that i was a "risk to the Ebay community and that I was banned from Ebay".  Needless to say i was in SHOCK as i thought it as a joke!!!   I emailed "Ebay customer service" and asked them to explain why they had done this and what had i done as i hadn't even been on Ebay since 2019.  I got a email saying it was they're final decision and that i was banned from EBAY.    I'm still in shock as to why?   ITs a dreadful feeling been accused of something that your not even aware off.  HAs this happened to anyone else? and if so how did you solve the issue?

A year or two ago I was banned from eBay. Someone else started a thread on here about being banned and it transpired that eBay had banned thousands of users in error.

I and others were reinstated a few days later.

Maybe that has happened here. Maybe not. I don't know but good luck anyway.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Rather than email eBay, trying calling them instead….

I am a bit surprised that they offered that reason, although it doesn't really say anything specific.

Obviously, just like any business, they can refuse anybody's custom for any reason they like as long as the real reason doesn't amount to unlawful discrimination (e.g race, gender, religion etc). The don't even have to give a reason.

With a huge organisation I would assume you have fallen foul of some protection algorithm rather than this being a specific "human" decision.

Possible that resurrecting an old account has triggered some security algorithm? It's probably quite unusual to have no activity for X years and then suddenly start selling items.

I agree with the above. It may be that the account was inactive. Another possibility is that an IP address may have made them suspicious. However that usually triggers a request for ID rather than a ban. I would try and get them on the phone.

    Hi OP

Do you have any other accounts with them?
Have you posted on their forums and got a ban?

Personally, I'd call them and if you don't get the answers, demand to speak the manager in that call centre.

Let me know how you get on and good luck

    Thanks
