  • For those of you who have used a mediation service, are there any things to look for specifically? My husband and I agreed to go through mediation. Unfortunately he thinks that I am agreeing with his proposal of a lump sum to buy me out of the property, but I want to sell and split the equity so we have a clean break.

Is there any point in even contacting a mediation service? And is that even possible to do when there has been domestic abuse?

I didn't use mediation but if you both agree to it then yes of course its possible to use it. It can be a cheaper way to resolve the issue - or it can simply be a waste of time and then you have to go to court anyway. That really depends on both parties.

I didn't really understand your point about the house - if he buys you out of the property or if it's sold and split then it's a clean break either way.
