Universal Credit rent allowance

My son and his family have to move from their rented property due to landlord selling it. They have lived in there 9 years and as much as the rent was high it was affordable for them ….they are now finding the same size properties are at least £300 more a month. They do receive help from Universal Credit but cannot get a definitive answer to the question ‘Will we get more UC to help with the rent ‘? It appears they have to move 1st and fill out the forms again before a decision is made . Any advice please.

They will be entitled to a maximum amount for their circumstances based on local housing allowance. If there's a shortfall they will need to pay that their self. You can check the rates here but it will be a weekly amount, which you will need to convert to monthly.. for example,  XX times 52 and then divide by 12. They will need to put the number of bedrooms they are entitled to and the postcode of the area they would like to live. https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/
