OVO strongly "suggesting" I increase my DD

i think they all of the suppliers got a lot of stick for putting up peoples dd's (even when it was needed) so maybe now theyre taking a differnt approach but theres no way it can be a 'scam'dunstonh said:Costs are increasing. And 2022 was a very mild year. So, you shouldn't be projecting future use on 2022 usage. They will be using assumptions based on the median.
You haven't mentioned your use at all in your post. However, that is the only thing that matters. Look at your 2022 in kWh (unit readings). Multiply it by about 20% (to make up for 2022 being mild), then multiply it by the anticipated costs from April 2023. That is a good projection of what you should be paying each year. If the supplier is way off that then you have the data and analysis to put them right.
i agree with the people who have said its best to check yourself what your dd should be. if your not sure how to do the above then its:
(if you dont have your annual usage in units) log into the ovo website and click on 'plan' on the left hand side. look at where it says 'future annual consumption' for gas and electric. thats what youve used for the last 12 months.
times that number by 1.2 to allow for it being a cold winter next year
times that number by 0.44 (if its the electric) or 0.14 (if its the gas) for the unit rate. both of these are estemated to be 'about' right but we will no the actual rates soon so you could wait and do the maths after the announcement.
add 168 (if its the electric) or 102 (if its the gas) for the standing charge
times that number by 0.05 to add 5% vat
divide by 12 to work out what your monthly payments should be.
(repeat for the other fuel).
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

As you are using £ for the standing charge the unit rate also should be in £.1

fixed the missing 0. thank you. the standing charge is the annual cost already so its the total amount that just needs adding on. you can't do that with the usage if you dont have the amount of units used so the person needs to times by the unit rate themselves.pochase said:times that number by 0.44 (if its the electric) or 14 (if its the gas) for the unit rate. both of these are estemated to be 'about' right but we will no the actual rates soon so you could wait and do the maths after the announcement. It should be 0.14 for the gas, you have one fuel in £, the other in pence. OVO's suggestion will escalate to a fact. I have been there before and happy I am no longer with OVO0

not necessarily.MikeJXE said:OVO's suggestion will escalate to a fact. I have been there before and happy I am no longer with OVO
we are with ovo and have been for nearly 4 years now. we have never had a problem getting our dd set to the level we thing it should be.
the difference from a lot of people who post on here saying they have a problem is that we know our usage and do the math to back up what we're saying (not call up and say 'i think its to high')Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
