TravellingAbuela said:Morning folks and profuse apologies for being MIA for so long. This latest chest infection really flattened me. I think at last I am feeling marginally better. 7 day supply of anti b's seem to be doing the trick but now I just need some energy back. The abs finish tomorrow so I hope I don't go backwards when they finish. I haven't been through the door for 12 days and if I don't manage it soon I might be frightened of going out. There is a small bonus to this however! Most unlike me I haven't been able to face eating much at all and have lost 6 lbs!
I haven't read back yet (but will do now) so hope I haven't missed anything untoward in our happy little band. Have a good day if you can and ((HUGS)) for fellow poorlies, recovering or fed up. Take care all and be safe xx
Welcome back!

Morning everyone
I'm late up today, I'm feeling shattered...I did a course for work yesterday afternoon for 3 hours - thinking and concentrating tires me in the same way as actually physically doing something. Then I had the weirdest dream about my ex husband - one of those really real dreams!
Never mind, my heating is sorted and I'm very impressed by Eon. The plumber came about half past 3 and announced he couldn't do anything as 'the meter had locked out' - still confused how this happens - so I'd have to ring my gas supplier. He did come back with a heater for me.
Well it took me about half an hour to get through ....the girl said they'd send someone out and I replied 'you mean today?' Engineer arrived just after 6, after ringing to say he was on his way and fixed it in about 1 minute. I was very impressed! It didn't take long for the house to warm up.
I'm in work at lunchtime today, I'll go down on my bike as little one has appointment at the RVI.
I need to clean the bathroom and get the towels washed and out on the line.
Gers - you're very kind helping your neighbours. Where you live sounds lovely, I couldn't live anywhere so rural as I don't drive. Little one did ask me the other day why I couldn't, I explained I had tried but wasn't very good at it - her reply 'maybes you should have tried a bit harder!'
TA - sorry to hear you're poorly - I hope you're better soon
Camelot - hope you're feeling better too - have a nice lazy week
Well I'd better move if I'm to get anything done. Have a good day everyone x10 -
Morning all, very frosty again 1st thing but clouding over now.TA glad to hear you're on the mend, and the ABs do their job. Hope Camelot and others recovering too.I did have a quick trip to town yesterday, no flasks there apart from small ones. I bought myself a new pair of jeans, then caught a different bus up to As da, which is only 5 mins along the ring road from us and DS picked me up after I spent time looking at the clothes. Not much choice so skipped past those, got a flask and some grocery bits so I think I can do without a sm delivery this week. The aforementioned ring road at the As da junction is on our way to pick up DGS from school, there have been massive roadworks there for the last 9 months.Sometimes it takes at least half an hour to get through the lights, jammed solid yesterday. Normally it's 10-15 mins to get to school, and another 10 from ours to Ds. It was a 2 hour round trip yesterday
, everyone is so fed up now!
My oldest friend messaged yesterday to see if I was free today, so we are out to lunch & I still have her birthday pressie to give her. We haven't met up since before Xmas. DH should be home before I go out, he'll leave DS2 on the job.I've put a chicken casserole in the sc for later.Anyway I shall go and have a shower now and make myself presentable to go out.Take care all x

Hi everyone,
TA, I hope you recover quickly. First thing in the morning here we have a dawn chorus of coughs from everyone except me, even little Esther joined in this morning. Poor little thing, she was pretty miserable at times yesterday, it's horiid when they don't understand why they feel ill.
Camelot, same to you and everyone else who is under the weather atm, roll on the spring.
Esben has gone to nursery after his usual token protests and a big bowl of porridge and jam. His eating at nursery (and at home tbh) is very hit and miss. If he can be persuaded to try things he usually says it is yummy but often he will just stubbornly refuse, the other day he said "I'm just going to say no to everything" and that included things he loves! Having said that he does eat quite well, just a limited variety and we're trying to get him to eat what we do when it's suitable and we know he would enjoy it.
I had a bit of a fail with the loaf yesterday because I forgot the salt, it's amazing the difference it makes to the flavour. The cinnamon bunts I made with the sourdough starter are almost ready for baking after proving overnight, they look good. Everything takes so much longer to prove but there is not as much kneading involved. I ordered a collapsible proving (and it doubles as a slow cooker) thing from Amazon last week but there has been a problem with the delivery. Parcelforce say they tried to collect it and couldn't and Amazon said it had been collected last Wednesday. Trying to get through to a person at Parcelforce has proved impossible so I rang the company and spoke to a very nice man who was very puzzled. He said they had collections every day and he'd look into it. If he can't find an answer he said he'd send another one out.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning all
Cold and frosty here will light the fire after this to keep us cosy. DD seems to have flu and tonsillitis and feels very poorly bless her so wrap up warm cosy day for her.
The funeral was lovely yesterday, as Taff said it was a real celebration of his life, obviously it was sad but more happy that we had known him, the crem was packed with lots standing at the back, it was a good send off!I’m doing a honey and chilli chicken tonight from the PON book, Coxy have you sen those books ? They are all slimming recipes but so tasty well worth a look.
TA hope you start to feel better soon xx
Topsy sorry to hear you did not get the job xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Morning all
Frost yesterday, freezing fog today. Where is spring? Mind you there is some joy too:
Daffodils are out up the road giving a lovely splash of colour and a boost to the soul.
saw 2 foxes in the field in broad daylight yesterday afternoon.. makes a change from the eyes in the torchlight.
Lambing has started - our local farmer is wearing a track up and down the road..and covering it with copious amounts of mud in the process. the joys of country living lol.
one advantage of having the SAR and Police helicopter base at the end of our road is that we get the gritter.Be interesting to see what happens if we get snow!!
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning...I am changing my name to Buck Et...thanks Coxy
Would it help if I told you I don't have properly hot water on a daily basis? We've got a tank in the bedroom and we have to switch it on separately from the CH, or switch on the immersion switch to heat it up so it's switched on once or twice a week so I can do the saucepans [another reason why I love large one pan wonders, not so much washing up] This means the water is only really hot enough to clean things once or twice a week, and manky greasy milk bottles are yukkity yuk hence putting them in the magic cupboard. The cooker gets involved in this clean as well..So today I have a bad ankle again after walking yesterday but I did more or less stick to my list of plates, bowls and a light [ OH stole mine to play COD]. I got the 75p plates and bowls, they don't take up very much room in the cupboard because they're so thin and lacking a nice kitchen, they'll do for now while I experiment with not accidentally smashing something on a weekly basis..I might have added two packs of the cinnamon things.. Friend got her chopping board that I am going to be burning designs on for her birthday [ she wants bees] so I can get cracking on that. Today is a final push on the decluttering front, going to go through the clothes again and get rid of the majority of the sentimental 'I'll fit into that one day' ones. Oh, and the fire is on, it is nippy again...
TA, nice to see you back, let's hope the antis have shown it the way to the door. snoozer, I wouldn't bother, I'd just report it as not delivered and let them sort it out. Rosy, enjoy lunch out! dp1, it's nice to see prompt service sometimes! Scarlet, hope you enjoy the next book! Gers, well done for tackling veg. I would happily eat just cabbage [of different varieties] and peppers and onions, it's the more esoteric ones that never get touched here [except kohlrabi, that is lovely] Coxy, the bean pasta sounds lovely, I will have to invesitgate. OH is lates this week so I am free food wise. Izzy, wear wrist warmers as well as gloves, they'll keep your hands warm, and look for really thick soled shoes [like fitflops] they'll insulate against the cold better...Hope it warms up for you soon! nice to see the woodburner is pulling it's weight...Iris, start up a campaign/group for like minded people to post interesting things to each other...My father used to complain he didn't have interesting things in the post any more..I should have done that thenTake care today, it might be sunny, but it's still nippy as...
