Smashed iPhone 12 back glass and camera lenses

As usual, the point has been missed by those who feel they need to defend.
I did not criticise the fact that this child or any other may have "issues" for whatever reason, neither was I unsympathetic, so I didn't really need remining what autism or ADHD was or even suggestion that I was ignorant of a situation.
I expressed an opinion that any 14 year old ("issues" or not) doesn't need a mid to high end phone costing £300+ in the first place .
Likewise, if it gets damaged or lost by whatever reason, gets rewarded by having it replaced with something as good or even better.
IMO just replacing like with like just reinforces learned behaviour.
If he "needs screens to calm him down" do they have to be high end iPhone's or Samsung's expensive screens or something that does the job for a lot less money and is a lot cheaper to replace.
A basic phone, for £100 will do the job just as well until they learn that there are consequences or they buy it themselves from their own hard earned money and realise the value of what they've got - simples.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers6 -
Again @matelodave your opinion may work for someone who is NT but those with ASD can’t learn consequences in the manner you mean as they are unable to moderate their behaviour:eek::eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20173

True, but it doesn't negate the point that it would make sense to provide a cheaper phone in the OP's situation. I agree with others that it is crazy to give any children or teenagers valuable phones that are liable to be damaged, lost or droppedbeckstar1975 said:Again @matelodave your opinion may work for someone who is NT but those with ASD can’t learn consequences in the manner you mean as they are unable to moderate their behaviour

For practical help with the phone, do you want to post a picture or two? I can’t see a problem with taping the back cover, as long as there’s no possibility of cutting oneself.beckstar1975 said:Again @matelodave your opinion may work for someone who is NT but those with ASD can’t learn consequences in the manner you mean as they are unable to moderate their behaviour
I am slightly surprised that you need a complete replacement for the camera module. Super glue is a great tool! But of course, i have not seen it.You can look up the second hand value of these phones and they seem to be around £300 mark, so you don’t want to spend more than say half that repairing this one.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?1 -
I forgot I had insurance!!
Paying the excess to get a new camera unit and the back replaced, for under £100.
Agreed going forward that if it happens again we won’t be able to claim again so we are going to try find some calm down techniques for when he gets overwhelmed. It’s hard, he’s big and strong now.
If with a better case it gets broken again he will not get a replacement of the same.:eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20171 -
Have the insurance company agreed to all that? I thought DS smashed the phone deliberately?beckstar1975 said:I forgot I had insurance!!
