Problems with IHD supplied by Octopus

Hi.  I had an Octopus smart meter and In Home Display fitted 2 days ago on 3/2/23. Leaflet says you can unplug IHD to carry round house to check costs of all appliances.  I unplugged it and screen went off so I am unable to do this. Leaflet says it has an inbuilt battery. Any info on what I can do would be so helpful. Thanks.. I've been on Octopus IHD help website but there is no information there.

I suggest you change the rechargeable battery, it sounds as if it's not holding charge. If you unplug, the display should dim, but not go out entirely.

An IHD will show you the current usage of everything in your home, there is no sense in carrying it around, no matter where you are it will show the same.

Here you can plug in your appliance and measure what this appliance uses.

I have always assumed the idea of carrying it with you was to make it easier to see what happens when you switch a particular device on/off...   No need to have it with you if you can get someone else to do the switching, but handy if you are on your own.
