I have been told by a manager of a meter refurbishing company that smart gas meter installed on its own without the smart electric meter will flatten its battery in a short time as it continues to emit a signal constantly as it tries to lock on to the comms hub .FFHillbilly said:I think the meters communicate with each other, only the electric meter broadcasts a signal so they need to be installed as a pair. I'm sure I've heard that before recently
This is the reason for smart gas meters needing to be exchanged in a matter of a couple of years , and junked , mainly because of its flat battery which costs about £15 to replace1 -
we had someone post on here not long ago that only had a gas meter installed and the coms hub had been installed and connected to the mains separately if i remember right. first time i'd seen that but other posters suggested it happened not infrequently.SAC2334 said:

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.1
