Car insurance wow!! and other amazing stuff

Options
;D

Just used Martin's recommendations to sort out quotes for my daughter (age 17 about to take driving test).

My first best price was over £1200 for 3rd party F & T from a "cheap for young drivers" company. Tried confused.com etc and got under £800 including breakdown insurance. OK it is still expensive for a £300 car but I have saved myself a fortune here so thanks for the information.

I also just got a 0% (for balance transfers ) credit card to cover the cost of my son's university rent to take advantage of a 3% discount for paying up front.

Thanks to a salary bonus I have already managed to put the money into a high interest savings account to pay it off in January, previously I would have written the cheque and fallen for the interest charges on my overdraft.
This way I have gained twice, (3% discount plus 5% interest on the £3000)

I was always wary of not paying full amount on the card each month. Now I know it is OK if planned properly, and yes the DD is set up to ensure payment is made on the right date!

Before I found this site I thought I was fairly sorted with money but I have learned and saved loads. I just want to say thanks and keep up the great work.

I have also saved over £100 on car insurance and £50 on road recovery thanks to the advice from Martin's site, have just been to Iceland and bought all the offers they had, managed to get the dvd/dvx player for £21-09 delivered and will be going to Tesco's tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone on this site and please keep up the good work.

  • Thank you very much. I had two accidents this year so I was resigned to staying with Cornhill but £841 seemed a bit steep. Used your link to confused.com and got down to £378! This site is so goood!!!
