Integrated fridge/freezer to free standing

My Mum has an integrated fridge freezer that has stopped working. The door fronts are blistered from the sun. She would like to put a free standing fridge freezer in its place. Is this safe to do? I am worried about overheating. There is coving/trim at the top to the unit which will look odd if the casing for the unit is removed

Check the instruction manuals online before purchasing to check the space around the fridge freezer that is required for ventilation.

can you post photos of the space/coving/trim?

Normally they require air getting under the fridge, then going up the back as it's heated and out the top. As long as there is free flow bottom to top it should be fine, as above the instruction manual should help.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

Sorry I can't add a picture as it's in her house. She's rather stressed about the whole thing.

Yes, normally, but some fridges dissipate heat by sides as well, not only on the back.

Thank you all. She might get something second hand due to cost so checking the manual might be harder (obviously I can google). I think I need to go and see exactly what is there spacewise.

Integrated appliances require ventilation too so most likely she will be able to swap without issue but as above check manual/specification if you can.

If the door fronts are blistered from the sun then this appliance probably isn't in the best place for it in terms of efficiency/electricity use.

Or the doors protected the old applicance significantly.  Which may make this not the best location for a fridge without an extra  layer of doors to protect it from the sun.

I have both integrated and free standing fridge freezers, I think you will have very few free standing fridge freezers small enough to fit in the space an integrated one leaves.

Thr placement is poor but there is not much option with the space she has

    Looks v efficiency for use.
I was so pleased to get built in when I moved but what I have is inefficient. Just looks good.

The mistake I made once was going by measurements given by brochure. That is the solid part. There is usually a fair bit at the back of appliances not accounted for plus as mentioned, the ventilation.

It may be a bonus buying 2nd hand that you can get accurate measurement. But try to only take something that has a manual so you can check how much space to allow around.
