Joint account - advice needed

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can offer some advice...
I seperated from my husband 3 years ago. We're not divorced, just living separately.
In March 2020, I declared myself bankrupt, he didn't.
The bankruptcy itself went very smoothly, and I'm now in a much better place financially.
However, from checking my credit report I can see that although the majority of my debts/accounts are shown as closed/settled, it's still showing monthly default flags on my joint account (overdraft) with my ex.
The overdraft, account and debt was included in my bankruptcy, but as only I went bankrupt, the bank is still chasing my ex for payments.
I've contacted the bank today to explain the circumstances, and asked them to remove my name and association with this account or close it, but they refused. They are fully aware of my bankruptcy and acknowledge that I am not liable for the debt, but until it is settled by other person on account (my ex), I'll receive the default flags on credit report.
I argued my case but they wouldn't listen! I don't know where to go with this... it feels very unfair.
My ex will not clear the debt, I've asked him.
Any advice would be much appreciated 🙂

Unfortunatly that is the problem with joint debts, your liability may have ended, but your ex`s has not, so that debt can be chased, and reported to the CRA`s until either its settled, or it gets defaulted and drops off credit files after 6 years, until then I`m sorry to say you are stuck with it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
