  • Hi

This post highlights the cons of cars without sparewheels. I am safely assuming that otherwise it would have been changed

    Good luck OP  -

But not by the breakdown company without paying them.

I've reported every pothole I've seen for the last year so chances are I've already reported this one but I'll go back for photos as you suggest.

    The company are 2gether Insurance.

Honestly the tow bloke laughed when he took me round the corner because of how short the journey was.

For future reference, what should I do? Would it have damaged my wheel to drive a few yards on it? Should I have just put a note on it saying "recovery on way"? I'm trying to take this as a learning experience rather than getting upset that it's £300 down the drain . And failing... but trying!

I do think thats poor service from 2gether insurance, and almost warrants a complaint as I wouldnt say it was an accident in terms of getting your insurance
The OP hit a stationary object. Thats exactly what motor insurance is for, including dealing with any claim for damage to the “thing” he hit.

    Thanks all.

I queried the lack of spare wheel when I bought the car and was told "small cars don't have them nowadays to improve boot space". I will NOT be buying a car without a spare again.

Wish I'd just gone through the bloody pothole now.

Ironically I didn't drive on the car at all to avoid damaging the wheel further, but the tow driver just left it in the middle of the road, not taking it into my drive which I had asked him to do. When I asked him to move it into the drive I thought he would attach it to the tow truck again but he just drove it in.  :#

Update: I wrote to the breakdown provider to complain about the above and they refunded £100. I will take that as an expensive but valuable lesson!
