We have a vintage caravan and would like to take it to some steam rallies. Because there are big potentially dangerous machines there, the organisers want every exhibit to have public liability insurance in order to attend. I would have thought it would be hard to hurt yourself on my caravan, but I can see the  organisers just want a blanket agreement. But all the insurers seem to only be for businesses. The caravan is insured by the car insurance when attached.
Hard to find the best section for this question!

    Try the 'insurance' board.

Whilst being towed by the car (not just attached) it is covered by the car insurance for third party liability from RTCs etc. If the vehicle was parked up, attached to the car, and someone slipped on the step down from the caravan and injured themselves your car insurers wouldnt be interested.

Do you not have the caravan insured at all? Car insurance only covers what it does to others, not what others do to your property.

We have explored caravan insurance but it is aimed at much newer and more expensive ones than ours. I have been in contact with a couple of caravan insurers who either didn't want it because of its age or wouldn't insure it to be standing in a field while people looked at it. We do not belong to a caravan club.

I've just done a quick Internet search for "insurance for steam fairs" and there are a number of providers which seem to have what you want as an exhibitor.

How's the economics of the setup? You being paid to display or paying? Any money generating options? Its not my scene so no idea the money side.

Have you spoken to the organisers about anyone they recommend?

I am neither paid nor paying, I am not selling anything, just sitting near my interesting but not valuable caravan. Thank you Floss for checking that, I did something similar but all I could find was for people selling crafts etc. but I'll have another look.
I am trying to find anyone else in the same situation, so far no luck. The organisers are not available for contact until nearer the summer season.

Have you considered something like these:

There are various other places too, just wanted to give a couple of examples as a starter - in case you hadn't already seen similar

Thanks Bookworm, I have investigated Hiscox but I'll look more at the other one. First glance says it's for the organisers, but I think the mere exhibitors are mentioned somewhere further down! We're only doing it for fun, there must be many other people in similar situations, but currently I can't find them. If we had a stall with valuable stock, there are plenty of options.
