Energy Bills Support Scheme
I have been made aware by Scottish power, my energy provider that Energy
Bills Support Scheme has been contributing towards my electricity bill.
First of all, this was done without my consent.
secondly, I do not want any government assitance regarding my electricity bill
thirdly, I am now concerned that since a third party has been paying towards my electricity bill what rights i could potentially lose or what repsonsibilities could the government mandate later in regards to this assistance payment.
Lastly, How do i stop Energy Bills Support Scheme paying towards my bill?

Hi,SP didn't need your consent, it is a Gov scheme to every electricity account holder, £400 paid in 6 instalments.0

In response to your questions.
1. No consent was required, the EBSS is paid automatically to every domestic electricity account in the country.
2. You, I, and everyone else in the country has no say in the matter.
3. You lose no rights or have no further responsibilities following the payment of the EBSS. We are all paying for it.
4. You can't.
(Also: the EBSS has been all over the news since at least summer last year and it's pretty remarkable you've only noticed now.)0 -

Have your home disconnected from the national grid and gas network.jbee2 said:Lastly, How do i stop Energy Bills Support Scheme paying towards my bill?1 -
If you do not wish to take advantage of the free gov handout may I suggest that you withdraw the equivalent amount of cash from your bank and pass it on to an elderly neighbour or a homeless charity. Somebody that would really appreciate it more than you.5

If you don't want any help simply write a cheque for £400 (plus the £150 you got via the council) to your local Food Bank. They will easily find someone more appreciative.
and do it under Gift AidNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill10
