Great post DGG...so many people over the years must have been grateful for the Ombudsman Service over the years. What is a few quid to these wealthy Insurance comapnies.....is like life and death to the ordinary man in the street.
I think you may have bodyswerved my question tho.....
Which Insurance class do I fall into please.....
My Partner and I live a couple of miles from each other and Id like to take her to work occasionally as she doesnt drive...
(Copied and pasted from a previous post)
So could I ask.....my Policy Booklet says ....we wont cover loss or damage when your vehicle is not being used for the explicit purposes included in your Certificate of Motor Insurance.... Mine is SD AND P....we have deternined that I am probably not commuting as it is not my place of work. There is no definitions in my policy booklet to Social Domestic and Pleasure(That I can see)...where do I stand as a case in point please??

Those grateful for the ombudsman will include myself... I am a consumer as well as a professional, sometimes it can be more frustrating being both.
As has already been said... what is the definition of Commuting in your policy or please provide a link for the wording. Whilst there are common practices ultimately it's a contract like any other and so defined by the terms in the wording.1 -
I have read and re read the Policy Document and Policy Booklet DGG and there is no description of the headings for the cover.in that I mean also the limitations of the cover.Maybe my policy is one that doesnt distinguish between Commuting and not Commuting.I cannot recall if on the Applicarion Form it asked me that question. So maybe I have blanket coverage anyway???0

There is a coloured standard flyer called an IPID with thefollowing paragraph...WHAT IS NOT INSURED...Unauthorised Use:any incident whilst the car is being used for purposes not on your Certificate of Motor Insurance or while it its being driven by someone who is not named on your Certificate of Motor Insurance. But there are no definitions of the uses.So my little run taking my Partner to work doesnt fall into any category....Im not commuting as its not my place of work Im going to...so it probably falls into domestic (see OP).OF COURSE...its no real issue until I knock one of our colleagues down on the way to her work??0
