The second hand car market values have rapidly risen in the last few years.
The settlement was paid into her account after it was rejected.

£865 paid for the years insurance, With a pro rata rebate £17. I don't think so.

So do You think this has been fair?

You basically bought at the top of the market as prices are now falling... cars.com has estimated a 10-20% drop in 2023 (-v- the 23% increase over the last couple of years). There is a long thread discussing it in the Motoring section.

Insurers dont require you accept their offer for them to pay it... if you complain and they increase the valuation they'll just make a second payment. Hire car provision etc is typically pegged to when settlement is made and so they will pay as soon as possible. Were that not the case then anyone could complain without grounds and slow up the process and keep the hire car for another 2 weeks or however long the complaint takes to resolve.

You buy a policy to insure a vehicle for a year with the ultimate conclusion either being either 12 months passes or the vehicle is written off. Insurers these days will allow you to transfer any remaining term to a new vehicle but if there is no vehicle in a reasonable timeframe (normally circa 60 days) then the ability to transfer is forfeit.

We all know WBAC reduce their offer after they see the vehicle and so its not that far out when you factor that in.

Did you declare optional extras to WBAC like metallic paint? Remember Admiral to not provide cover for these and so you shouldnt add any to the WBAC site to get a closer approximation and then knock of a couple of hundred for them saying the alloy scuffing was worse than you stated etc.
