  • Last night we made the firm decision to stay put. This morning we're back to undecided. Damn it!
As I said before, give it a year to enjoy the financial stability you now have. Then look - you’re not going to lose out on the market as, at best, it’s stagnating.

How would you feel if "I" bought the other house, ripped out all the trees/bushes or whatever it is you love about it, and put half the lawn to terrace or concrete? Would you be thinking you wish you had bought it as you would have enjoyed the garden as it was, but if it came up for sale like that you would not buy it, and there are no others around as good as that would have been for you?
Are there others in the area that may come on the market in the future which would be suitable for you?
Where do you see yourself living in 5 years time and 10 years time?
If you bought the other house would it be your longterm house even when the children had gone to university?

  • @SusieT No, if you bought it and did what you wanted I'd be pleased for you...I wouldn't buy it after that though, and yes there will be others, it's not the only, etc...Just the best of what's available now really, for us. Will hang tight for a bit...at least till dinner!

I vote for having a breather and letting the dust settle. You're clearly in two minds about it so perhaps it's best to let the idea float for the time being. You may well find something falls into place at a later point.
