I suggest going to https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker and check what channels you should get for your postcode.

If you are missing channels off this list then its most likely a signal strength issue.

Do you get a message a couple of times a week saying "new channels have been added"     - select your region. I  get given a choice of Gloucester and West  Midlands but not found any difference

Do that and it solves the problem.

I used to loose ITV regularly.
Never pay on an estimated bill

I retune our box and tv from time to time and notice that channels do disappear - they’ve either no longer on freeview or simply moved to another location

Obvious first step is to get the aerial checked by a professional.

It could be many different things, ranging from the aerial moving in the wind, damage over time to aerial/cabling, new tall buildings constructed nearby, tv tuner going faulty.

You could try another TV on the same cable and see if it gets more channels, this will point to a possible TV tuner issue.

Other than that, the only real way is getting a professional to come check out the aerial alignment, signal levels, etc...
