What do you mean by old payment amount? You make it sound as if they suddenly showed a different amount, but took the same amount as always?
Please give some more details.0 -
Correct the issued bill saying DD would go to £682 so I rang up corrected this / readings well before direct debit cut off change date, login to my account for the weeks prior to next payment it was saying next payment is £199 yet they still took £682. I go the direct debit recalled but just talking to bank now looks like edf called £682 again, they are useless I'm low income family edf pulling that kind of money is a nightmare, edf not helping no ne calls me back email to ceo ignored.JustTakeAllMyMoney said:Anyone have issues with edf direct debit were they took old payment amount which was different to what the app/site had shown as next payment was and had been for weeks?

From my experience of EDF they do not appear to be able to amend the "next" Direct Debit if that payment is due to be taken within the next two weeks, although the site will show an amended "next payment" figure it will not change the amount taken until the payment after that one.JustTakeAllMyMoney said:

Do you have a large debt with EDF, a billing issue etc? I am wondering why they are trying to claim £682 rather than the £199 you think you should pay? It might be that that issue also needs to be addressed.JustTakeAllMyMoney said:

Do not bother emailing the CEO, that is largely a gimmick, instead raise a formal complaint. Make sure the complaint contains all relevant details, is factual, not emotional, and send it to ComplaintResolution@edfenergy.comJustTakeAllMyMoney said:

The Amending I think is the issue as you say the edf site is very misleading even though at the time the customer service person ensured me £682 woukd not be taken.£682 was what they told me on 17th based on estimated so I rang up gave meter readings came down to £199, system then showed for 2 weeks next payment £199 no where did I see £682. Now its even more of a mess as under direct debit guarantee the bank recall it which means edf cancelled dd, so rang up today reset up dd and now system telling me they are going to take £1007 on 21st then £236 on 1st of March, its such a mess call them up and offered payment plan but I dont owe them it the system seems to be out of control and customer service can't stop it. My rear usage a year cost wise is about £2800.MattMattMattUK said:

I've had problems for years with EDF and them changing DD whenever they feel like it.. Using estimated figures (despite having actual ones) and issuing bills that are not correct. I took them to the ombudsman... I suggest you raise a complaint with EDF, get the complaint number, and ask them to refund the overpayment. If they don't do it, then you have to open a case with the ombudsman (this can take months), but document every chat and get EDF to email any online chats to you. It all helps with the ombudsman... it took me 7 months but I won, and EDF had to pay me compensation and are not allowed to amend my DD without my written permission.

As above - make your to ComplaintResolution@edfenergy.com
You are wasting your time with CS and the CEO
PS There must be some reason they want to take the large DD
PPS Did you know you can change the DD yourself = try changing it just a little and see what their response is. But don't change it without giving plenty of notice - at least a week.
PPS You talk about your consumption being £2400 pa - what is it in kWh ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
