If someone is looking for full time work, while in a low paid zero hours job, but have too much in savings to qualify for a Universal Credit payment, can they still apply so they get their National Insurance credits paid?

For NI credits only you would need to obtain JSANC1 form - I think you’ll need to contact JobCentre to get one.
If your NI record for tax years 2020-21 and 2021-22 is complete you can claim new style JSA for six months which will pay you £77/week as well as giving you NI credits.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.2 -
Thanks. It’s a college leaver with no prior NI record. We’ll look in to JSANC1.0

Are you aware that the maximum savings limit for UC is £16,000? some think it's £6,000. Being so young will they need those NI credits? Claiming JSA for credits only they will still be expected to look for work and attend appointments.

I share poppy’s opinion. As a college leaver, if they are genuinely excluded from UC, if I were in that position I wouldn’t put myself in the hands of DWP just for NI credits. It’s a long time until they reach pension age so lots of time to find work and make contributions.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated.
