Student loan write-off permanently unfit for work

Hi
I understand that I can get my student loan written off because I have been assessed as permanently unfit for work (currently going through ill-health retirement and I have the paperwork). *if* my health is stable enough I would really like to do a part-time masters online from home in the future. If I get my loan written off now, would this prevent me from applying for a masters loan in the future?

Thanks. Yes any part-time study from home would be because of a disability and I also have evidence that would make me eligible to get my undergrad loan written off. My question is though, if I get my student loan written off now, would I still be able to apply for a masters loan in future? It is the link between the two that I need information about.silvercar said:https://www.gov.uk/repaying-your-student-loan/when-your-student-loan-gets-written-off-or-cancelled

I don’t see them as connected. The rules are the government rules and the student loan company is only an administrator of them. This isn’t like a commercial lender where one bad debt could mean they would decline future business with you.samk777 said:

That said, if you are at all worried, why not apply for the new loan before getting the current one written off?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Following up on @silvercar's final point, is there any benefit to having the current loan written off at all? Presumably if you are permanently unfit to work you don't ever expect to make any student loan repayments so leaving the loan in existence surely has no cost, and would mean there is no concern about taking out the Masters loan.[As an aside, if you are medically unfit to do any sort of work are you sure that you can be medically fit to do a Masters degree, I found it quite challenging to study for mine without any medical issues]1
