Insuring a wheelchair adapted vehicle

For the first time in my life I find myself responsible for sorting out the car insurance. It's an old vehicle (2011) and we are hoping to replace it with a Motability car this year, but in the meantime obviously it needs insuring. The current policy (Adrian Flux) is up for renewal in March. Last time we just renewed the existing cover but this time I would like to look around for a better deal.

As it's a wheelchair adapted vehicle I have no idea where to start, as the normal comparison tools are useless and so many companies exclude them. With everything else I'm having to deal with at the moment I'm just completely overwhelmed!

Use the aggregators, they can cope fine with modified vehicles.

Looking at Confused.com you'd just select Accessories - Internal Changes and possibly Bodywork - Modification due to disability depending on exactly what adaptations you've had made

I'd suggest after getting your prices from them you then check with the individual company before buying to make sure the modifications have come through to them appropriately.

It might also be worth contacting a decent independent broker in case they have access to policies that aren't easily found online.
