What is supposed to happen to retainer sums of money on completion?
We exchanged recently & will complete in early Jan 2008 but it doesn't look like the freehold will be sorted out by then. There is a retainer of £2500 on it & apparently that money is going to be held in an interest earning account by by solicitor.
Is that money mine or the mortgage lenders? Should I be getting proof of ownership of that sum? Are there other charges etc associated with this retainer that I should have been told about?
Thanks
