Hi,
can anyone help or advise me please. I am a single parent (have 2 children) my eldest is a student nurse at uni but lives at home and my youngest is at school. I work and I privately rent and receive housing benefit there is no non dependent deduction for my eldest as she is a full time student and doesn’t work, her Nan passed away last year and she is due to receive inheritance money. her Nan lived aboard so she’s not sure when she’s actually getting the money as probate is taking ages but it should be approx 20k so my question is will my housing benefit stop even though it’s not me getting this money ? My daughter wants to use it for a deposit to buy her own place once she finishes uni. Can anyone advise ? Thanks

No, capital of 20k belonging to non-dependant will not affect your housing benefit.1
