Hi
Can you help,
I have entered all my details on the HMRC self-employed assessment for 21-22 but the calculation for tax I owe is wrong, as it does not take in account of my personal tax allowance, in total I earned less than 20K,
Just call HMRC this morning on hold for 1hour, once I got through there system was down and then was cut off.
The adviser said there is a tick box on the form that requires ticking but she could get in the system to find it.
Any ideas?
I have an PAYE employment which was less than Personal Tax Allowance for the tax year, and Self-Employed, this is my first time
hope that enough information
Any help is much appreciated..
Sue

There is no such tick box.
If you post the tax calculation then you will get more help.1 -
Is it not the case that your Persoanl Allowance only applies to your first (or main) job. Any other job is taxed at Basic Rate. However, it looks like you can ask HMRC to apply the unused allowance form your main job to your second job (they talk in terms of contacting them to arrange this rather than ticking any boxes) (Moneh Helper is a government website)

Not ure how this applies if one of your jobs is Self Employed
