Gym closed but still have to pay

They key question really is if this was planned work or emergency? If planned, how far in advance were you told?
The last gym I was a member of did some rolling closures so never was the whole place closed but the pool & wet spa were closed then reopened at the same time as half the studio space closing etc. Certainly they gave over a months notice for the work and so if you were on a rolling contract you could serve your notice to pause/stop it for the couple of weeks without a pool (or whatever was important to you) and restart after..0 -
Had exactly the same thing with a gym a few years back and it all felt fair, reasonable and above board. This was a large gym on a huge industrial estate and half the memberships were corporate memberships from a number of PLCs, legal firms etc and didn’t hear any chatter about unfair terms or challenges to it.Did help they managed another facility, that had a gym and some classes but no pool, 5 miles down the road and allowed access to those that wanted it.0
