Wiring a light fitting with no earth

Its not just Ali express my son bought 2 metal light fittings from Next, when I went to fit them neither had an earth connection.

However any of the ones I have seen from Next have been Class I and not Class II.0

It's quite possible for a metal light fitting to be class II provided that all the wiring inside it has double or reinforced insulation. So a two-core sheathed flex would be fine.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
