Royal Canin food price increase - grrr! (just a rant and warning)

We have an extremely fussy cat (won't eat most foods), and 99% of foods make him put on weight (unless we feed well under the guide level, then he's hungry and miserable). We've all been happy - despite the cost - on Royal Canin Light Weight Care for a couple of years now.
It crept up in price by probably about 10% last year, and I've just gone to re-order and it's jumped by 10% since my last order a couple of months ago! Found the notice below on Zooplus which explains it.

I had a 10% off voucher for Pets at Home which, weirdly, made them cheapest. Still £2.50 per day for his food *sigh*.
Not really looking for advice. We've tried most foods going and we'll keep him on this food unless we literally can't afford it as it balances his fussiness and weight issues. A happy cat is worth the cost.
Just a warning to other Royal Canin customers!

Not just Royal Canin - our fur madam is on Hill's Science Light. Likes it, and keeps her weight in check, so will continue to buy it. But, ouch, the price increase over the last 12 months!0

Zooplus using the same tactic asTesco did, refusing to buy from Heinz when they considered the increase in price unjustified.0

Same here, saw that message on Zooplus which is great but will have to continue to buy it for skinny, fussy cat that will eat NOTHING else. Made a massive error the other day and ran out, didn't check prices before i went and ended up paying £10 over the 2kg price in a so called "discount pet food store" won't make that mistake again!"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Really noticed the jump this week when reordering the 10kg bag. We have a breed that tend to have very sensitive stomachs and really can't face changing it. Will keep an eye on it, we have no medical need to keep them on it, but any change would need to be pretty gradual.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0

Look on the bright side, he/she could be the size of a Great Dane, think of the cost
. The most important thing is that your darling cats are happy and healthy. We lost ours last year and she was diagnosed with kidney problems 2 years before that. The vet recommended Hills and Royal Canin renal food. I bought it from Amazon because I got free delivery and the prices didn’t vary hugely. It was eye wateringly expensive but it was worth every penny as she was pretty healthy for her last 2 years.
I had put myself on a strict low carb diet and saved a lot of money by cutting out the rubbish I often ate (did I really need a 6 pack of Marmite crisps?) and this helped fund her special food. So, happy cat and happy me as I lost so much weight my GP said I am technically no longer diabetic.. Sorry to go off the subject a bit

I didn't buy RC but I bought a number of veterinary diets from VetUK this week and the prices were very good. FirstVet also have offers on RC fairly often.0

So is some of their food.

PetPlanet have some good offers on at the moment, including 25%/30% off the Hills Science that furry madam (currently) likes.1

I think RC is back on zooplus now.0
