Feeling a bit better this morning after a good nights sleep, put some vapour rub on a hankie tucked down my pj top but couldn't smell it so I think it's too old although the date says it should be fine. A lack of taste and smell spurred me on to do a covid test but that's negative - a rotten cold it is then! Apart from the washing yesterday I did nothing so must try harder today.Probably the cold affecting your sense of smell, in the height of a very bad cold I sometimes can't smell Olbas Oil when it's right under my nose.No trying harder, rest up! Fluids and time on the sofa.Nan - I saw the new Jurassic film at the pictures and really enjoyed it, hope that you do too.DP1 - those programmes are lovely. Robson Green was awarded his honorary doctorate when I graduated in July 1998. He knew he looked slightly silly with the stupid hat and raised a laugh when he announced his middle name! Golightly. Took it all in good spirit.Izzy - I'm so glad that I don't have a dog to force me out of my warm bed into the cold nasty outside!Snoozer - I do hope that the bread turned out to be beautiful after all the effort you took. Yes, it was me who mentioned the Royal Mail service.Iris - chicken curry sounds just perfect for this weather.Muddy - you'll sleep better tonight - I hope.Chrisca - did your deliver arrive OK?I got myself up, most reluctantly, and have now done a few things downstairs. Reported a potholed road (for the second time - apparently it's been repaired though you wouldn't be able to tell), did a click and collect thing for Royal Mail, emptied the dishwasher and had a bit of breakfast. It's probably a bit too late for breakfast and not late enough for brunch or lunch so I nibbled on a bit of cheese. That'll keep me going until a bit later. The weather is still very uninviting, the woodburner is howling with the wind. I haven't lit it as I'm under the electric throw which is good enough for now.8 -
So a brief one for my 3rd attempt. Happy birthday CAROLBEE enjoy your family day and lots of cake. I've had a busy morning with one thing and another, including stripping and re-making my bed. The washed bedding is now festooning the upstairs.. Not long until lunch now. Have a lovely day all and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, Dp1 I hope you feel up to going to the Panto. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"9 -

Good afternoon, sunny and breezy here today, towels blowing merrily on the line and some "smalls" ready to go out shortly.
Lovely walk with OH and dog and a chat with neighbour on the way back in.
Intending to do mushroom stroganoff for tea and have a pork tenderloin for tomorrow, wondering if I can cook it today for reheating to save some time then, will have a look, or perhaps I should swap the days over.
Hoping that all the poorly people will soon be feeling brighter.
Off to spend half an hour in the garden, topping up the bird feeders and digging out a few weeds that have the potential to turn into triffids.
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)9 -
Feeling more energetic today so have prepped the small shower room and will emulsion shortly,it’s small and awkward with a ladder ,Please don’t ask how long I’ve had the paint !Did the gloss in the summer before I jigged my hip
Just done the small amount of ironing and will put my dinner on to cook whilst I paint .
sun now coming out and it’s definitely warmer ,just as well as I sent my meter readings in yesterday and the result is terrifying
Take care all10 -
Hope you're having a very Happy Birthday Carolbee, enjoy that chocolate cake!
There's nothing wrong with the vapour rub, smelled it this morning and it made my eyes water!8 -
Gers, yes it arrived around 10.20 so not too bad, thanks. It must be irritating for people who book a hour slot as they need to go out to an appointment etc and have to hang around as the app keeps updating to later and later in the day though. As the old saying goes though worse things happen at sea! Bought low fat mince in Aldi to make shepherds pie. My advice - don't. Came out very chewy. Won't buy it again. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday all
