Can anyone please advise. I have a numbe of video files currently in Windows media format, Do they have to be converted before burning to disc so they will play on my dvd and if so what format do they have to be converted to.
Also can anyone tell me of the easiest software to do this. I am new to this and am finding it very complicated and would appreciate any help.Thank You.

It depends on which program you use to burn discs. Some of them can burn playable DVD directly from video files in PC. AVS Video Tools is a good choice with a long list of supporting formats including AVI, DivX, XviD, DV AVI, MP4, MPG, etc.0

Can your DVD Player play DivX format? If Yes, then that will be easiest conversion. The whole task can be cumbersome and not always reliable, especially with "all in 1" tools. Have a look at www.videohelp.com for some good resources. This thread has a lot of info about the various options.*************************

Try DVDFlick, just import your video files and it will produce a DVD that will play on a stand alone player (assuming your player doesn't have issues with recordable discs).
