Cheapest way to buy/hold Vanguard Lifestyle Fund ISA/SIPP

My partner currently has £60k of the fund in an ISA and 20k in a pension both directly with Vanguard

I have £20k in an ISA with Vanguard and £70k in a pension with Interactive Investor.

We don't buy regularly. Just once/twice a year.

Any help appreciated.

Vanguard is cheapest for small amounts. iWeb is usually cheapest for large amounts, but their SIPPs are not cheap. I suggest that you compare the costs for Vanguard, iWeb and Interactive Investor. I expect that Vanguard will be the cheapest for both of you.

Your partner would be better off with iWeb for the ISA..  Vanguard platform charge of £90pa (at present), and iWeb one dealing charge of £5.

IWebb charge a ‘one off’ account opening fee of £100, but currently paying cash-back of £100 if you xfer from another provider or fund with £5k. So effectively, free to open & only £5 dealing charge. Great for lump sum and buy & hold investors.

The costs depend on the number of trades per year within each fund. Nonetheless, the OP can almost certainly save money by holding the bigger ISA with iWeb, and will certainly save money by holding the smaller pension with Vanguard.
  • Do iWeb do Vanguard LifeStrategy. I couldn't see it on their site.

Yes, search for funds, their naming convention is idiosyncratic to say the least. It's often easier to use Google with IWeb & fund name

And if you are cost focused, as your title suggests, then also consider the HSBC Global Strategy fund range as that is cheaper than Vanguard.
