I have received a letter from DWP saying they need to contact me regarding my benefit claim. I do not claim benefits of any kind and am worried sick someone else may be using my identity. Can any one help. The only thing I get is Carers Allowance for my autistic child.

Are you sure it is genuine as it sounds a bit generic?270441 said:I have received a letter from DWP saying they need to contact me regarding my benefit claim. Probably little to worry about and a random check.

Those two statements are contradictory.270441 said:I have received a letter from DWP saying they need to contact me regarding my benefit claim. Do not worry, it is likely just routine, but even if someone is claiming fraudulently claiming in your name there is a specialist team to help resolve that so it will get sorted. Speak to them on Monday, or however you have been requested to contact them.1 -
As MattMatt says, Carers Allowance is a benefit administered by DWP. All your letters about Carer’s Allowance come from DWP.
it may be a random check or, if you are working, a query may have arisen in connection with your level of earnings,

Carers allowance is a benefit but you said you're not claiming any benefits. In a previous thread you said you're 78 and claiming state pension. See thread. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/79805529#Comment_79805529 are you both the same person?

If OP is in receipt of a State Pension they cannot be receiving Carer’s Allowance! (Except in the exceptional circumstance that the SP is less than £69.70/week.)Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0

Thank you as my son requires 24 hour a day attention I cannot apply for JSA as I would be unable to seek employment . I do not claim anything at all.

Your opening post says you claim Carer's Allowance, you previous posts say you claim the state pension, this post says you claim nothing, those statements contradict eachother, so which is correct?270441 said:Thank you as my son requires 24 hour a day attention I cannot apply for JSA as I would be unable to seek employment . Yes you do because you're claiming Carers allowance, which is a benefit. Are you state pension age and claiming state pension?270441 said:Thank you as my son requires 24 hour a day attention I cannot apply for JSA as I would be unable to seek employment . I do not claim anything at all.

Until you provide correct information about your circumstances none of us can provide relevant information.
State Pension? A small private pension (mentioned in other thread)? Carer’s Allowance? Do you live with anybody else besides your son? Do you rent or own your home.?

Not sure what previous post you are talking about but in connection with this one I am posting it on behalf of my daughter as she is too distressed to do so herself. I have always been under the impression that an Allowance was not the same as a benefit but CA classed as Income for tax . Her autistic son in in receipt of DLA at highest rate and she is his carer. She does not work as her son requires 24 hour a day care therefore she would not claim any unemployment benefit as she would be unable to work as she is a single parent as well.MattMattMattUK said:
